Composable bridges Cosmos ecosystem through Evmos’ integration with Mosaic

Composable continues to push forward for an interoperable and fully-scalable cross-chain DeFi ecosystem. We are delighted to announce that we are integrating with Evmos, the first-ever IBC-compatible EVM hub expanding our reach into the Cosmos network. Through this collaboration, Evmos will be integrated into Mosaic, our cross-layer asset transferral system.
Evmos’ distinctive contribution to blockchain
Evmos — an acronym for “EVM-on-Cosmos,” serves as the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) hub on the Cosmos network. Its primary function is to provide EVM-equivalence, making it easy to deploy Ethereum applications while using all the same tools and resources such as Hardhat and MetaMask and connecting Ethereum applications to intra-Cosmos smart contracts. Evmos equally serves as an application-agnostic chain fully interoperable with the Ethereum mainnet, all EVM compatible environments, and other BFT chains via IBC. Expectedly, it eases cross-chain transferrals of value for both developers and end-users.
A much-needed collaboration for DeFi’s future
As part of Mosaic, assets already accepted by the cross-layer transferal system will be easily swappable between Evmos and other chains already integrated onto Mosaic, including Polygon, Arbitrum, Avalanche C-Chain, Fantom and Moonriver.
Integrating Mosaic will provide a direct bridge to Evmos Hub, largely connecting application-specific EVM chains (Ethermint chains), Cosmos chains, Ethereum and other EVM environments. Adding Evmos into Mosaic will not only allow liquidity to flow into this hub but also add tremendous value to the layers already integrated into Mosaic by virtue of this connection. End-users will be able to start using Mosaic with their Evmos applications during the incentivized hackathon and testnet once Mosaic is ready to launch that functionality.
We are super excited and consider this integration a watershed moment in DeFi’s history as Mosaic’s bridging with Evmos is the first of its kind for the Kusama and Cosmos ecosystem. As a hub for EVM-compatible environments on Cosmos, our partnership with Evmos will help to establish a connection between the Cosmos and Composable ecosystems.
Evmos — the first step towards the realization of our broader goal
Evmos integration into Mosaic is our first step towards connecting the Dotsama ecosystem with Cosmos. In order to fully integrate, projects need to connect with the interoperability protocol Cosmos utilizes — the Inter-blockchain Communication protocol (IBC).
Composable is actively working towards making this connection by developing a Kusama-IBC Substrate bridge, and is currently working on an implementation of a light client for BEEFY, the non-substrate bridging protocol built into Kusama, that Composable is currently contributing to.
As this project develops, users will still be able to transfer their assets between Cosmos and the Kusama ecosystem, thanks to this partnership and integration of Evmos into Mosaic. As we make progress on this full-scale integration between our ecosystems, we will keep our community updated.
