Composable is pleased to announce the integration of Moonriver into Mosaic, our innovative and efficient cross-layer asset transferral solution. The addition of this project provides a novel opportunity for transfers between Moonriver and other solutions already integrated into Mosaic. Moreover, this allows a linkage between Mosaic and the growing Kusama community — and ultimately, the broader Polkadot ecosystem.

What is Moonriver, and What are Its Advantages?

Recently deployed as a parachain project on Kusama, Moonriver provides a permanently incentivized canary network. Moonriver acts as a community-led sister parachain on Kusama for its companion network, Moonbeam. Before being shipped to Moonbeam through Polkadot, new codes are tested and verified on Moonriver.

The Moonriver network holds a unique advantage over other DeFi networks: it simplifies the process of experimenting, building, and launching decentralized applications for developers. Specifically, it is the easiest way to deploy solidity dApps to the Kusama network with little to no modification.

Importantly, Moonriver is fully compatible with the Ethereum blockchain. The two function similarly, making it easy to integrate Ethereum-based protocols and dApps with those on Moonriver. This compatibility is enabled by Moonriver’s mirroring of many Ethereum features such as subscription, keys, logs, and Web3 RPC, as well as its minimizing of the changes required to run existing solidity dApps on the network.

What does this Integration Bring?

Currently, on the Mosaic Bridge, we have successfully integrated other layer 2/scaling solutions including Arbitrium, Avalanche C-Chain, Polygon, and Ethereum Mainnet. With the addition of Moonriver, we are closer to our ultimate aspiration of complete interoperability across DeFi.

Of course, adding Moonriver to Mosaic will allow users to be able to transfer assets between any project deployed on these aforementioned platforms that we have connected.

Through these integrations, we are successfully removing the barriers from cross-layer and even cross-chain interoperability, making it possible for users to move digital assets freely without any hindrance. This addition of Mosaic in particular positions us to solidify a position as the go-to solution for Polkadot-Ethereum interoperability — which can facilitate innumerable new use cases within DeFi.

Initially, we will be allowing only transfers of USDC and WETH, but we may add supported assets shortly thereafter, such as SLPs.
